Fun fact: curls that are the short tight look of early Regency in the middle of the day relax to curls suitable for late 1820s/early 1830s by the end of the day. It makes me want to book two things of those eras in that order on the same day JUST so I can take advantage of the curls' metamorphosis! (Kinda but not really haha ( Read more... )

Sleeves are basted in, petticoat has been rehemmed 3" lower, all the stuff is hanging ready to go, and front-hair is in curlers. Have I forgotten anything? (TBH trying to have the sewing done before the day before is half so I know I'll remember to put in curlers in time!)

Petticoat is done (has no closures but whatever), new detachable sleeves are done. I wanted to have no sewing left for tomorrow but I'll allow myself to leave basting the sleeves into the dress for then!

I discovered last night that I'd have to work this evening (because someone called off AGAIN) so I made the most of my time today. Ha, ha, ha. There was a lot of lounging around and getting up late and chatting on FB and watching Murdoch Mysteries *without* sewing in my hands...oops? I mostly-finished the bodice yesterday, which took longer than expected because OMG this fabric is so fiddly and shifty and GAH! Would not lie straight, would not stay straight when I shifted it, and so on. So that made everything take forever! Hemmed about 2/3 while watching Lucifer. Man, this stuff is so slow to hem! My stitches have to be rather smaller than usual because the fabric is so loosely-woven. Now I'll sew the last third watching Murdoch Mysteries, which I highly recommend - despite the titular character being rather spray-tan-orange!
